Health and physiology:
There are many studies that lead us to conclude that a vegetarian diet is the healthy natural alternative for humans.
Currently there are an increasing number of famous vegetarians in all fields of endeavor, which clearly shows that the trend towards vegetarianism is growing.
But one of the strongest reasons we found for being vegetarian is that a vegetarian diet guarantees us a peaceful and low stress experience in this life. Most people would be vegetarian if they had to slaughter their own meat.
From a physiological perspective, any animal, especially mammals close to humans, like the cows, pigs, goats and sheep will secrete enormous amounts of adrenalin at the point of death. This adrenaline is pumped into their bloodstream from the moment that they understand that they are being taken to the slaughter house.
These animals deal with extreme terror in their transport and slaughter in modern meat processing plants. That secreted adrenalin is in the meat that one consumes and creates the potential for a violent or stressful existence and can lead to many diseases.
One of the symptoms of fear is a peculiar sensation at the base of the stomach . That is the adrenal gland, which any doctor will confirm is secreting adrenalin to prepare the body to defend itself or run from the scene. Adrenalin could be called the drug of violence, because it causes extreme fear and violent reactions to that fear and anxiety.
Ingesting the blood of any animal and especially of cattle and other mammals will increase the adrenalin in the body to very high level. Many studies have revealed that meat eaters suffer from stress related disease and are more prone to heart attacks.
A recent study questioning young people who had become vegetarian revealed that they could remember nightmares from their meat-eating days where they were being attacked and could not get away, much like the animals would experience in a slaughterhouse situation. As soon as these youngsters had become vegetarian these nightmares ceased.
A police study in Bombay of statistics taken over 20 years confirmed that 80% of the violent crime in the city was attributable to 8% of the population which were the meat eaters.
An additional advantage to a vegetarian diet is that of better chance of weight control. In modern times the uncontrolled use of growth hormones in factory farming, producing obesity and deformities in the animals for the sake of increasing profits without considerations of consequences is also reflected in the alarming increase of obesity and deformity in the humans consuming them. For instance Cargill since the sixties has been producing and distributing hormonally enhanced feed for poultry that gets the chickens to grow to "mature slaughtering weight in a few weeks rather than months. This feed was also advertised as producing double breasted and double legged chickens.
Almost forty years later we suspiciously view the deformities in humans caused not by just overeating but by the effect of these hormones on the humans consuming them.
We therefore really recommend that every individual seeking a peaceful and healthy existence should adopt a vegetarian diet.
The Bible in the old Testament or Torah is very clear In Genesis while man was living in the garden of Eden he was given fruits and seeds and grains for his sustenance. Animals were placed under his care and he was given dominions meaning the right to protect and name them, much the same way as an older brother can be given charge of his younger brothers. With that does not come the right to senselessly slaughter them when other foodstuffs are readily available and delicious.
The Torah specifically forbids the consumption of blood and pork and so does the Holy Koran. In cases where vegetables and fruits are scarce animals can be slaughtered in order to feed humans, but the slaughter is done in regulated ways minimizing cruelty and making sure the blood is drained as much as possible.
There is of course "ahimsa" or non-violent meateating of the flesh of animals that have died a natural death, but those who have discovered the freshness and possibilities of a vegetarian diet are always repulsed at the thought of eating corpses.
In any religious faith we pray for mercy and yet have no mercy on innocent creatures that we cruelly slaughter and sometimes boiled alive just to satisfy our taste buds. Everyone who claims to be seeking enlightenment or attunement to the will of God needs to honestly look into their heart about this and realize that the violence inflicted on countless animals comes back to haunt us in the poor health and behavior in our society.
In Vedic society which is the backbone of Hinduism, only the Ksatriyas, Princes and Soldiers who are given the mission to defend society and go to war in defense of the weaker members of society, are allowed meat and blood, but those in search of higher education are encouraged to be peaceful, control their senses and stay away from food in the mode of passion.
The Vedas explain that there are 8,400,000 different species of life and that the soul transmigrates through these and attains the human form which is capable of philosophic and scientific inquiry and introspection in order to realize the truth. Any human if he endeavors properly can uplift his consciousness to attain enlightenment.
Vedas state there are 400,000 species of humans and according to the modes of material nature each individual is given a faith that will allow him to elevate himself nearer and nearer the goal of understanding his relation to God, the Supreme being.
The Vedas are the unabridged scriptures which include and expand upon the knowledge encompassed by all of the other scriptures.
People interested in this statement should make a detailed study of Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja's translations of the most important Vedic scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita as It Is, MacMillan 1972 edition,The Srimad Bhagavatam and the Chaitanya Charitamrita, as well as all his other writings. We also recommend all interested persons to visit www.purebhakti.com where these teachings are further explained by Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaj.

THE LORD’S MERCY
According to the Vedic scriptures, one should offer all foods as a sacrifice to God:
“…all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me.” (Bhagavad-gita 9.27)
One should not conclude (like the hunter believed) that everything is offerable to God. The Gita specifies exactly what should be offered: “If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it.” (Bhagavad-gita. 9.26)
The Bhagavad-gita further declares that one who lovingly offers his food to God, according to scriptural guidelines, is freed from all sinful reactions and consequent rebirth in the material world:
“The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sin because they eat food which is offered first in sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin. (Bhagavad-gita 3.13)
Violence in Islam.
Careful study of the Koran and the discovery of the ancient Bhavisyata Purana revealed that Islam is a method of spiritual upliftment for naturally violent people who refuse to stop slaughtering animals, Mohammed is the great Prophet pbhn who installs Jihad (religious warfare) as the method of purification for those people.
After suffering the results of war these people gradually elevate themselves to understanding that actually the great prophet Mohammed pbhn was a non-violent person who lived mainly on nuts, fruits and dates Spiritually advanced Islamic mystics who are known as Sufis follow him and are vegetarian and espouse non-violence.
We do not deny the right of those who want to consume meat to do so. As we said people who are excessively passionate and desire to eat meat should be allowed.
However, preferably these people should slaughter the animals that they will consume themselves and be encouraged to hunt deer and other animals that need culling. Hunting is both good exercise and practice for soldiers to use their weapons. Again we are not opposed to weapons; it is not the weapon that is responsible for the shooting, but the person in possession of such weapon.
